basics
Pellet is a form. Pellets are small, cylindrical rods with a diameter ranging from a few millimetres up to several centimetres, with a length that can also vary greatly. Pellets are the products of a press technology. During production a properly prepared material or a mix of materials is compressed by mechanical tools (a pellet presser). The end product of this process is a pellet.
The technology has been well-known for a long time. You can see pellets in animal breeding (feeding, litter) in pharmaceutical industry, in plastics production, but nowadays most often you see them in connection with heating technologies. The various fields of pellet application benefit from its numerous advantages. If compressed in a pellet form, materials are easier to transport and store. The dosing of certain substances can be regulated, thus quality is steadily controlled.
